Why should I donate to Theatre Arcana?

Storefront theatre in Chicago is special, because it is more affordable, accessible, and connected to the community than the larger regional houses. In a study completed by the Gaylord and Dorothy Donnelley Foundation, storefront theatres in Chicago prioritize diversity, equity and inclusion through casting, play selection, and community engagement. We also offer educational opportunities for community members and charge affordable ticket prices. Storefront theatres connect neighborhoods and help local businesses and individuals culturally thrive.
Theatre Arcana is new and we are still developing our audience base, so every single contribution makes a huge difference for us. As a nonprofit, our expenses come entirely out of our own pockets and from audience donations like yours. Because we are a 501(c)(3), your donations are tax-deductible. We want to assist playwrights in developing high-quality plays in a collaborative environment and pay all of our project roles (actors, designers, directors, and playwrights) a stipend. We are reserving high quality venue spaces so that our audience experience is comfortable and positive, and we are committed to creating accessible theatre for people who may not be able to see shows live and in person. We are determined to produce magical plays that transport audience members and lessen the distance between their hearts.
